Call of Juarez PS3 a hidden gem

Call of Juarez Bound in Blood had always been on my radar, but upon receiving my copy of RDR I wanted to get into it before RDR ruined all western games as we know them. So I went down to gamestop and plucked it out of the bargain bin.

If you've yet to experience Call of Juarez BiB due to the hype and greatness of RDR you should do yourself a favor and run to your nearest game store and pick this up for a some cheap fun.

59.99 would have been a bit steep for a more linear western game with a few fun hours of multiplayer mixed in but at 19.99 this game is well worth the price of admission.

The single player component has a solid story and carries fun gameplay mechanics. The levels are a bit linear but it really doesn't take away from the experience. Think Uncharted 1 with lesser graphics and not as good voice acting but with duel wielding six shooters and bow and arrows. Sounds and Music are stellar although not at all on par with RDR but still good in it's own right. It took me about 15 hours to complete the game on hard.

Multiplayer is fun and entertaining. It doesn't carry the staying power of say any of the Call of Duty games but the trophies make the multiplayer fun to get into.

There isn't a focus on KDR here though. (Which I like) The usual team deathmatches and FFA modes (Posse and Shootout respectively) are more focused on killing the best player in each game. The best players carry the largest bounty in which you recieve upon killing them. The other modes are recreations of old west tales such as the "The Shootout at the OK Corral" or a few famous bank robberies that carry objectives in order to win. Play as the Lawmen who stop them or the Outlaws that wreak havoc.

As a trophy hunter this game fits perfectly into my style, challenging yet not too difficult online trophies and a multitude of fun yet challenging trophies for the single player. 48 in total including the platinum.

I reccomend it for those who want a fun game at a cheap price and want to add a few more trophies to their collection even possibly a Platinum. I'm going for mine.

Funny how I've been wanting this game since the demo came out and my boy and I talk about it time to time and he bought it a while back, as well for his 360. Even today, after I initially noticed this blog, he called me up and was saying how he was actually playing CoJ at that very moment. Lol.

Anyway, this is still on my radar, especially now that I have gotten a bit addicted to RDR, although I had to put it down for the last couple days. I will be picking up CoJ sooner or later, used, or brand new, if the price is cheaper than a used copy.
